For many years he was the mail carrier on the rural route from the Rimer post office and was honorably retired a few years ago. He was a member of Templeton Lodge No. 30 Knights of Pythias.
The effects of a stroke which he suffered several months ago resulted in the death of Perry W. Collingwood, of Armstrong County, Saturday evening at 10:40 o'clock in the home of his son, Frederic, Painter Street, Natrona Heights. He was 71.
Mr. Collingwood had come to his son's home at Christmas on a visit and due to failing health had remained there.
Besides his widow, Mary Stowers Collingwood, he leaves three daughters and four sons: Delwyan of Leechburg; Alvin and Edgar, of Fawndale; Frederic, of Natrona Heights; Mrs. Roy Meredith, of Pasadena, Cal.; Mrs. Joseph Doyle, of Cleveland, and Mrs. Cooper Chaney, of Creighton. Two brothers, Clinton Collingwood of Fresno, Cal., and Warren Collingwood of Leechburg and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bain, Pittsburgh and Mrs. Mary Balsinger, Leechburg and fourteen grandchildren also survive.
A short service will be held in the Collingwood home in Painter street tomorrow at noon in charge of Rev. Morris Cooper, of Romersburg followed by services at 2:30 p.m. in Grace Reformed Church, Widnoon, of which Mr. Collingwood was a member.
