Marvin Hendrix Foster , 79, Smithville, MO, left this earth on June 10, 2003, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Pleasant Valley, MO. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel Funeral Home, Gladstone, MO. Entombment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice.
Marvin was born in St. Joseph, MO, to William Athel Foster and Eunice Boone Hendrix Foster on May 10, 1924. Marvin attended Gower High School, William Jewell College, and Central Seminary. He was a member of River of Life Church. Marvin was a veteran of World War II where he received a Bronze Star. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters, and twin grandsons, Clinton and Kevin Shipley.
He was married to Martha Baber on August 10, 1946, she survives him of the home in Smithville. Additional survivors include daughter, Barbara Shipley and husband, Eugene, son, Bob Foster and wife, Cindy, and daughter, Betty Jones and husband, Carl, all of Smithville; four grandsons, Craig, Kelly, Jonathan and Andrew; one granddaughter, Samantha; one great-granddaughter, Meghan; two brothers, Raymond and Loren Foster of Smithville, MO; a sister, Millie Fehr of Kearney, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
