Loren Allen Foster, 81, of Smithville, MO a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ went to his heavenly home on April 30, 2013.

Loren was born October 11, 1931 to William Athel and Eunice B. Hendrix Foster near Edgerton, MO. He grew up in the Edgerton area and graduated from Edgerton High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Korean Conflict.

Loren married Hila Fern Auxier on May 2, 1953 and established their home in Edgerton where they spent their first seven years. In 1960 they moved to Smithville, MO.

Loren was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville where he served in many positions including Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, Deacon, and Deacon Emeritus.

Loren retired in 1981 after 28 years with Ford Motor Company.

Loren was also past President of the Spelman Memorial Hospital Auxiliary serving over 6,000 hours and received volunteer of the year. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors on the Smithville Housing Board.

Loren was the author of "Crackers and Crumbs", a weekly column of comment and world observations that first appeared in the Platte County Citizen on November 12, 1982 and later in the Smithville Herald until March 1990.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, William Athel, Jr., Raymond E. and Marvin H. Foster; five sisters, Aletha Witt Smith, Mary L. Rogers, Martha Lee Daniel, Loretta M. Auxier and Mildred J. Fehr.

Survivors include his wife, Hila of the home; three sons, David A. (Christina) Foster and Byron K. Foster of Cummings, KS, and Scott L. (Taresia) Foster of Smithville, MO, two daughters, Vicky K. (Jerry) Goodrich and Karla J. (Charles) Degginger of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Bradford, Amy, Franklin, Jason and Kelley Foster, and Katie and Connor Degginger; eight great-grandchildren, Aiden, Keller, Will, Hunter, Sage, Willow, Makenzie and Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4th at the First Baptist Church in Smithville.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO.
Donations may be made to the church or U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots.
