Norman G. Alstatt, 69, died Sept. 12, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Lindsborg, to Herman and Florine Harris Alstatt. He graduated in 1957, from Marquette High School, Marquette. He was retired from the Hutchinson Correctional Facility in 2001, as a corrections officer, and had been an employee of Morton Salt Company for 26 years, and was a farmer since high school.

He belonged to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose #982. He was an avid Hutchinson Community College sports fan.

On Feb. 1, 1969, he married Alberta E. "Bert" Kepka in South Hutchinson. She died Aug. 11, 2007. Survivors include: two sons, Mike and wife, Janis, Hutchinson, and Chris and wife, Lori, Marquette; a daughter, Kathy Alstatt, Seattle, Wash.; two stepsons, Gary Kepka, Independence, Mo., and Steven Kepka, Florida; four brothers, Stanley, Marquette, Dean, Hutchinson, Kay, McPherson, and Vernon, Manteca, Calif.; three sisters, Flora Malm, Charlotte Knackstedt and Jaylene Sellhorn, all of Marquette; seven grandchildren, Cody, Tim, Chendra, Caitlin, Dakota, Noell and Breanna; great-grandchild, Braylon; step-grandchildren, Tiffany and Matt Kepka; and a special friend, Darlene Buck, South Hutchinson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tim Ault-Duell presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the mortuary.
