Hilbert E. "Hib" Schumacher, 85, died at 10:06 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 10, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel; continuing from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. funeral service Friday, September 11, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel.

Hilbert E. "Hib" Schumacher, age 85, of Hamel, Illinois, died Monday, September 7, 2009, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
He was born November 10, 1923 in Alhambra, Illinois, the son of Erwin and Emma (Blase) Schumacher.
On May 13, 1945, he married Evelyn M. Schumacher, who survives.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, Illinois; St. Paul's Mens Club; and Madison County Fireman Association.
Born and raised in Alhambra Township. Graduated from Edwardsville High School, Edwardsville, Illinois, in 1942. He worked a short time for Hamel Telephone Co.; then for Cassens Transport Company, as a parts manager; then 27 years for Klaustermeier Ford, Alhambra, IL, as a manager, the last three years it was called Tri Ford, until retiring in 1988. He was currently and has been the Hamel Township Supervisor since 1975. He enjoyed woodworking.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, Illinois, and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, Illinois.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 11, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, Illinois, with Rev. William Weedon, Pastor, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, Illinois, officiating.
Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, Illinois.
