Filmore Whitis, 86, Shopville, died Saturday, Sept. 20. at the VAHospital after a short illness.
Born April 27, 1894, in Kentucky, he was the son of George and Janie Lankford Whitis and the husband of the late Ophella Ping Whitis.
A retired farmer and veteran of World War I, he was a director for the Pulaski County Farm Bureau.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. J.L. Langford, Shopville; two brothers, Bob Whitis, Somerset, and Oather Whitis, Dabney; two sisters, Mrs.Nora Claunch, Washington, and Mrs. Lizzie Bishop, Shopville; three grandchildren, Connie Langford Butler, Fairfield, Ohio, John Thomas Langford and Charles Filmore Langford, both of Shopville, and two great-grandchildren, John Rollin Langford. Shopville, and Bobbie Nicole Butler, Fairfiled, Ohio.
A brother, Willie Langford, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Brinkley, preceded him in death.
Services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Methodist Church with the Rev. Leonard Sears and the Rev. Tom Shouse officiating.
Burial will be in the Randall Cemetery.
Firends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
