Mary Jospehine Curry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Curry was born in Peoria, Illinois July 11, 1851 and died at her home at Carbon, Iowa, December 27, 1928 at the age of 77 years, five months and 27 days.
She came to Adams County 60 years ago. She was united in marriage to Henry Houck, February 26, 1871. To this union five children were born, Emma, Frank, Lizzie, Charlie, and Eli.
She was preceded in death by her husband June 3, 1912 and by her son Charlie, November 14, 1912. There are two sisters, Mrs. Malinda Drennan of Corning and Mrs. Julia Moore of Corning, also three brothers, Alex Curry of Creston, Iowa, John Curry of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Peter Curry of Carbon, Iowa, who survive her. Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. There are also 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends and neighbors who grove over her departure.
