Wife of Harry Perry Morris (1906-1997). Harry and Gert were married on July 18, 1927 in Montgomery, Alabama. Gert was the daughter of Bernard Bocke and Emma Katherine (Hacker) Bocke. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Gertrude had 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Gertrude E. Morris, nee Bocke, 97, died on Monday, August 19, 2002, in Chattanooga, TN. She was born in Quincy, IL, in 1905, daughter of Bernard and Emma Bocke.

Mrs. Morris made many friends in many cities as she accompanied her husband's business moves. They resided 37 years in Newport News, Va., where they were active members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. In Hixson, TN, Mrs. Morris resided with her daughter and attended St. Jude Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Harry P. Morris; her loving parents; her sister Marie Beger and her husband Junius; her brothers, Joseph and Anthony; her sons-in-law, Eugene Droz and Jerry Cousino and her daughter-in-law, RoseAnne Morris; sister-in-law, Josephine Bocke, and brother-in-law, Erwin Ristenpart.

She was a loving mother and is survived by her children, her brother, Alphonse Bocke of Quincy, IL; her sisters, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on August 22, 2002, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. at the church by Monsignor Michael McCarron. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
