Walter H. Connard, 73, of 852 N. Union St., died at 12:50 a.m. yesterday in Decatur and Macon County Hospital.
Mr. Connard was born July 10, 1890, near Elwin, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Connard.
A resident of Decatur for 43 years, he retired in 1960 after working 35 years for the A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. before going to work for Staley’s he had farmed near Elwin.
He married Ada Jones in Urbana Aug. 6, 1911.
Mr. Connard was a member of the Elwin Methodist Church; a past master of Great Light Lodge 1064 AF & AM; a member of Masonic bodies, Macon Chapter 21 RAM and Decatur Council 16 RSM; and the Staley Fellowship Club.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Ralph E. of Decatur; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Guest, Decatur; one brother, Curtis E., Decatur; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One daughter and one son preceded him in death.
Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery.
The body is in the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home. Burial in Mount Gilead cemetery.
