Lillie B. Avey, 79, longtime North Central Washington resident, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 1988 at Central Washington Hospital.
She was born Lillie Linkem on June 27, 1908 at Cooke, Minn. She moved with her family to Cashmere in 1919 and attended school there. She moved to Peshastin in 1923 and married Dan R. Avey on Nov. 15, 1924 at Wenatchee. They lived in Peshastin until moving to Wenatchee in 1987.
She was a member of the Peshastin Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are her husband, Dan, at home; six daughters, Dixie Wallace of Malaga, Evelyn Ream and Doris Hutson of Wenatchee, Darryl Van Velkinburg of Ephrata, Sylvia Weiss of Arlington and Linda Tomlinson of Marysville; five sons, Jack and Charles of East Wenatchee, Phillip of Marysville, Marvin of Wenatchee and Dan of Kirkland; three brothers, Floyd Linkem of Mossy Rock, Cecil of Riverside and Robert of Seattle; two sisters, Donna Kaufman of Omak and Charlotte Green of Mexico; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 10 at the Braun Funeral Chapel, Pastor Del Butcher officiating and the Rev. Reuben Carlson assisting. Marie Lake and Phyllis Boyce played and sang "He Washed My Eyes With Tears" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Burial was in the Peshastin Cemetery with the following sons and son-in-law as pallbearers, Dan Avey, Jack Avey, Marvin Avey, Charles Avey, Phillip Avey and Kenneth Ream. Honorary pallbearers were Norman Wallace, John Tomlinson, George Van Velkinburg, Mai come Hutson and Terry Weiss.
The Braun Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
