Charles J. Ray, 75, of Neoga, IL passed away at 4:31 p.m. on Saturday September 5, 2009 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 9th 2009 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL with Rev. Randy Black officiating. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Charles was born on April 8, 1934 in Douglas County the son of Ola and Aslee (Lake) Ray. He married Geneva Edwards on Feb. 18, 1961. Surviving is his loving wife Geneva, sons Rick wife Lisa Ray of Sigel, IL, Terry wife Cheri Ray of Strasburg, IL, daughter Sherry Ray of Toledo, grandchildren Amanda Brown of Beecher City, IL, Jaimie Tegeler of Toledo, Jessie Ray and Betsy Ray of Sigel, Jacob Ray and Joey Ray of Toledo. Great-grandchildren Isabelle and Payton Brown of Beecher City. Brothers Leon wife Marilyn Ray of Toledo, Lonnie Ray of Charleston, Sisters Ruby Crawford of Villa Grove, IL, Freda husband Berlin Stallings of Toledo, Alberta husband Richard Shoot of Greenup. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one son Sean Allen Ray and two brothers Loren and Lloyd. Charles had worked at Young Radiator in Mattoon for 22 years. Charles most prized possession was his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and working. He was always playing a practical joke on a family member. Charles never met a stranger and enjoyed talking with them. He will sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorials can be made to the family
