He was a son of Charles W. and Mary J. (Ball) Culp.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 1, 1942 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
He received his discharge from the Army on June 10, 1945 at Ft. Dix, New Jersey.
He was originally from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on October 6, 1965.
"PETE" CULP, WORLD WAR II VETERAN, DIES
Donald J. "Pete" Culp, 61, 357 York St., a veteran of World War II, died Saturday afternoon at 3:25 o'clock in the Veterans' Administration Hospital at Lebanon. He had been in and out of the hospital since last January 1.
Mr. Culp was a native of Gettysburg and a son of the late Charles W. and Mary J. (Ball) Culp. He had reached the rank of Sergeant in World War II service in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church here and belonged to the Eagles, the Moose, the Albert J. Lentz Post No. 202 of the American Legion, the Elks, the Home Association of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Past Presidents' Club at the Eagles.
SERVICES WEDNESDAY
Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Charles W. Culp, Jr., retired Borough policeman; Mrs. Edith Clapsaddle, Avon, N.Y.; Leo Culp, New Oxford; Mrs. Mary Ludwick, York; and Edward A. Culp, Gettysburg. There are a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, meeting at the Bender Funeral Home at 9:30 o'clock, with a Requiem Mass at 10 o'clock at St. Francis Church, with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Kealy officiating. Interment will be made in the Gettysburg National Cemetery with military rites to be provided by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call Tuesday evening at the Bender Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited at 8:30 o'clock.
