Agnes Hawkins Hogg, 85, long-time resident of Oak Ridge, Tenn., passed from this life on Sept. 4, 2009, in Lawrenceville, Ga. to be with the Lord.

Mrs. Hogg was born to Dillard and Lily Hawkins on Aug. 5, 1924, in Jackson County, Tenn. After completing school and teaching in a one-room schoolhouse near her family home for a short time, she moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn., in 1945.

In 1945, Mrs. Hogg met her late husband, Bruce Hogg, at the Central Cafeteria in Oak Ridge. After a blooming romance, they wed in Clayton, Ga. on Aug. 5, 1945. Their romance lasted for 61 years, all of which were spent in Oak Ridge, with the exception of the last five years, spent closer to their children and grandchildren in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Mrs. Hogg was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ira Bruce Hogg. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hogg Walker and her husband, Phil Walker, of Lilburn, Ga.; son, Larry Hogg and his wife, Alice Hogg, of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Nicole Walker, Kara Walker Koons and her husband, Kurt Koons, of Lilburn, Ga.; Josh Walker and his wife, Lori Beth Walker, of Oakton, Va.; Chris Hogg and his wife, Jennifer Hogg, of Perry, Ga.; and Natalie Hogg Colvin and her husband, Rich Colvin, of Cumming, Ga.

Mrs. Hogg had three great-grandchildren, Katie Koons and Zachary Koons of Lilburn, Ga. and Julianne Hogg of Perry, Ga. She is preceded in death by one sister and survived by three sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Hogg was a traditional woman, wife, mother and devoted homemaker. She was deeply involved with the needs of her family.

In addition to her family, she served in the community and also in her church home, Highland View Church of Christ. Mrs. Hogg belonged to the Melton Hill Porcelain Club, enjoying many friends there, as well as, producing many beautiful art pieces.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, 11 a.m. at Highland View Church of Christ with Mr. David Wallace officiating.

The burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
