Bill Fred Hawkins, age 78 of Oakwood, was a son of the late James Dillard & Lillie V. Gentry Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis as well as at the end of the Korean Conflict. He currently worked with Carroll Daniel Construction Company of Gainesville with 20 years of service and was an active member of the St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Oakwood. Mr. Hawkins was a Past Commander and life-member of the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720 and a member of the Hollingsworth Masonic Lodge # 355 F & AM.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Paddie Anne Pierleoni Hawkins, sisters, Daffo West, Doyce Smith, Agnes Hogg, & Navoy Cassetty. Survivors include his children, Lisa Nichols and Gus Hawkins, three grandchildren, a sister, Harriett Cofer; three brothers, J.V. Hawkins, Ronel Hawkins, and Kinner Hawkins.
