Services tomorrow for Nora A. Douglass, 86

Memorial services for Nora A. Douglass, 86, a Ferry County homesteader and retired schoolteacher, will be at 3 pm tomorrow at the Green Lake Funeral Home. There will be cremation. She died Saturday.
Born in Illinois, Mrs. Douglass came to this state in 1900 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Shain. The family lived in a sod-roofed prairie house near Walla Walla.
Mrs. Douglass and her husband, Britain, homesteaded in about 1906 in the Toroda Creek mining area near Bodie, Ferry County. The couple later moved to the Havillah area of Okanogan County, where they operated a cattle and wheat ranch.
Mrs. Douglass taught school in the 1920s and 1930s in the Mansfield, Douglas County, and the Brewster Okanogan and Chesaw school districts in Okanogan County.
She came to Seattle in 1942 and repaired planes at the former Sand Point Naval Air Station during the war. She then became a substitute teacher in the Seattle schools, retiring in 1953.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Retired Teachers Association and the United Methodist Church.
Her husband died in 1941.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth, California and Kermit Douglass, Seattle, and a daughter, Kathleen Brakken, Seattle.
Remembrances are suggested to the Foss Sunset Home, where she lived or to the Heart Fund.
