William Coffey Called By Death

Taken ill with pneumonia last Saturday, William Coffey, familiarly know as "Uncle Bill" Coffey, died early Tuesday morning. Interment is set for Wednesday afternoon at the Montgomery Cemetery near Wren, south of Moulton a short distance.

Mr. Coffey was 80 years of age in the past January. On the Friday preceding his death he was in Moulton for several hours looking after property he owned in town and became too warm in some work.

Mr. Coffey was one of the best known citizens of the central part of Lawrence County. His life had been spent almost wholly at his fine farm near Moulton where he passed away. He was noted for his industry, thrift and kindliness of heart. For many years he served as one of the directors of The Citizens Bank, which he helped to organize in Moulton many years ago. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Besides his widow, Mr. Coffey leaves one son, Henry Coffey, and two daughters, Mrs. Ed Stewart and Mrs. Will Parker, and nineteen grandchildren, all of whom live in or near Moulton. He has one son dead, Abner Coffey, who preceded him but a few years.
