Albert Bachelor Dies Tuesday
Suffers Heart Attack Saturday
Albert H. Bachelor, 65, prominent Bellville resident and businessman died Tuesday noon, January 27 at the Republic County Hospital following a heart attack first suffered Saturday morning in Omaha, NE., where he was visiting.
Mr. Bachelor, unable to get medical aid without going to a hospital, drove home to Belleville after he became ill Sunday. His doctor, Perry U. Hunsley, M.D., immediately sent him to the hospital where he was assigned to intensive care, but suffered set backs and passed away Tuesday noon.
Associated with Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart, Belleville funeral directors for 25 years, he became a representative for United Mutual Funds in 1960, working for Waddell & Reed.
A Bridge Specialist
Mr. Bachelor in late years had participated in many bridge tournaments across the country, and was scheduled to make a Gorum bridge cruise tour to the Caribbean in the near future. He had also taken the bridge cruise to Hong Kong and other points.
Mr. Bachelor had attained the rank of "Life Master" of the American Contract Bridge Association, one of the few such members in the state.
He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kansas State University Endowment Association. A regular attender of the Belleville "Coffee Club", he head kept the records of the group for years.
He was a member of Belleville Lodge NO. A.F. & A.M., Salina Consistory, Isis Shrine, Belleville Lions Club, B.P.O.E. Lodge NO. 2209, Kansas State Alumni Association, the Wildcat Club and the American Contract Bridge League.
Mr. Bachelor was preceded in death my his wife, LaVange on June 2, 1958.
Funeral Services Today
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist church in Belleville.
Survivoring are one son, John R., of Fairmont, NE., one daughter Una Mae or Mrs. Jim Jensik, Larned, KS.; one brother, Dr. Frank Bachelor, Salina; three sisters, Mrs. George O. Faulkner, Mrs. N.S. Spangler and Mrs. Paul Washburn, and eight grandchildren.
