Marguerite Bromfield, 97, of North Maple Avenue, Kingston, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Hospice Care of the VNA Unit, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Plymouth on June 23, 1912, the daughter of the late Enoch C. and Annie Mitchell Pearson. Marguerite graduated from Kingston High School and resided in Kingston her entire life. She was employed by Wilkes-Barre Deposit and Savings Bank until her marriage. Marguerite was an active and one of the oldest members of Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston, being a member for 82 years. She served as treasurer at the church for 35 years. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship and of the Adult Bible Class. She held many offices and served on many task forces at the church. She served as the president of the Wyoming Valley Women's Club and was a member of Wilkes-Barre Women of Kiwanis. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and the former Nesbitt Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for more than 40 years. Preceding her in death were her husband, Forrest W. Bromfield, on March 17, 1991; son, Clark; and sister, Loretta Evans. Surviving are her son, Jay Bromfield, Philadelphia; one niece and nephews.The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ Uniting, Market and Sprague avenues, Kingston, with her pastors, the Rev. Dr. Carol Ann Fleming and the Rev. Dr. James L. Harring officiating. The interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
