Uncle Vic loved a good joke. Once when I was a little boy I watched him pull something out of his pocket that I mistook for a cracker. It looked like one of those layered crackers that are covered in chocolate and come wrapped in cellophane.
I said "Hey Uncle Vic! I want some."
"Sure boy… here you go…" and with that he cut off a piece for me which I promptly plopped in my mouth and went to chewing.
It was chewing tobacco! Gag … puke … spit … retch!!!!!
The memory of it makes me smile.
I remember another ocassion where he tricked me into thinking that the pine tar that had accumulated at the base of a pine tree was actually what they make chewing gum out of - with predictable results!
