J. A. Boggs, 71 year old resident of the Crews Community in Winn Parish died at the home of his son in Rodessa on Wednesday, February 17. Funeral services were held February 18 at the Mt. Zion Church with interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Boggs was born March 27, 1871.
Among the survivors are two sons, Roy Boggs and Reginald Boggs, both of Rodessa, La., and one or two daughters.

The 1880 census (Grant Parish, LA) gives John Boggs' age as 8 years. The 1900 census (Winn Parish, LA) gives March 1871 as his birth month/year, in agreement with the DOB in his obituary. Evidently, the DOB inscribed on his grave marker is wrong.
