Ruth Amelia Oehler of Longmont died January 2, 2008 at the Applewood Living Center. She was 91.

Ruth Augusta Amelia Carlson was born December 4, 1916 to Frans Gustaf Carlson and Ellen Augusta Carlson on a farm east of Longmont. She grew up in the Ryssby Swedish Community.

She married Harold Leonard Oehler on October 21, 1937 in Longmont.

Mrs. Oehler was a member of the LifeBridge Christian Church (formerly First Christian Church of Longmont). She helped with the church nursery, Junior Youth Group, and was an active member of the Women's Circle.
She was a loving Christian mother and grandmother, and was known for her cooking and baking. She canned fruits and vegetables from the home garden. She enjoyed family trips to the mountains and country farms.
Mrs. Oehler resided at the Applewood Living Center where she was affectionately called Ruthie.

Mrs. Oehler is survived by sons, Charles Oehler of Longmont, Larry Oehler and his wife Judy of Conifer, and Mark Oehler of Longmont, Colorado; daughters Rose Froebel and her husband Ed of Longmont, Donna Messenger and her husband Tom of Longmont, Sharon Hazard and her husband Barry of Tualatin, Oregon. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Harold of 43 years and her daughter Beverly Cantonwine, brothers Robert Carlson, Roy Carlson, Raymond Carlson and sister Esther Foster, two granddaughters Sarah and Andrea Froebel and one great-granddaughter Crystal Gee.

A memorial service for the family members will be held.
