Einar Magnus Eastvedt was born January 29, 1873, to Lars and
Marie Eastvedt, in Brevik, Norway and passed away at his home in
Scandia, Kan., May 7, 1954, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 8
days.
He was baptized and confirmed at an early age in the Lutheran
church in Brevik, Norway, and later transferred his membership to
Our Saviour's Lutheran church in Norway. At the age of 14 years,
he left his mother, seven brothers and three sisters, and came to
America to the home of his grandfather, Thoresus Nelson in Brantfort,
Kan. A few years later he came to Norway, Kan., and has
resided in this community since that time.
On January 26 1898, he was united in marriage to Albertine
Hammer. To this union were born Two daughters. Mr. and Mrs.
Eastvedt celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anninversary last
January. Mr. Eastvedt suffered a stroke 12 years ago last December
which forced him to retire from his farm in Norway township and
move to his home in Scandia.
He was a public spirited citizen and took an active part in the
building of the present Norway Lutheran church. He was a true
and loyal friend and even during his years of illness maintained his
usual jovial disposition.
He leaves his wife, Albertine, his daughters, Mrs. Laura Ainsworth
and Mrs. lola Larson, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren,
one sister, Mrs. Martha Gronneberg of Oslo, Norway, numerous other
relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held May 11 at the home in Scandia and Our
Savior's Lutheran church at Norway with the Rev. Severin Bly
officiating. Interment was made at the Norway Lutheran cemetery.
