Services for Oscar Eli McClendon, 91, of Lufkin, were held at 4 p.m. today in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Roy officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. McClendon was born Sept. 8, 1900 in Angelina County and died Monday in a Lufkin hospital. He retired as a barber after working over 50 years at Palace Barber Shop. Mr. McClendon was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors: sister, Sevelia "Bebe" Andrews; sisters-in-law, Mae McClendon and Versie McClendon; a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. McClendon was preceded in death by his wife, Willie McClendon.
Pallbearers will be Richard "Dick" McClendon, Woody Gann, Joe Ben Gann, Mike Baird, Ed Melancon and J. F. Bourrous.
