All Daughters of Utah Pioneers Obituary Scrapbook

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Emma Langston Stout, a pioneer of southern Utah, who died at Hurricane, were held in the Zion Park Stake House at Hurricane, Utah, recently, according to word received here today. Burial was in the Rockville, Utah Cemetery.

Mrs. Stout was born in Alpin City, Utah, Feb. 15, 1859, a daughter of John and Clarinda Phillips Langston. She died nearly a fortnight before her eightieth birthday.



With her parents, she settled at Rockville in 1862, where her father built the first house. She moved to Hinkley, Utah, in 1908 with her husband, Alfred Fiske Stout Sr., whom she married when she was 13. She and her husband moved to Provo in 1918, and lived here until 1925, when they moved back to Hurricane. Mrs. Stout was active in Church work, serving as president of the Rockville Relief Society for several years.



Surviving are nine children: Mrs. Mary C. Hirschie and Mrs. Annie L. Jones, both of Rockville, Alfred F. Stout Jr. of Hurricane, Mrs. Sylvia S. Carie of Salt Lake; Elmer, Ernest, Tracy, Homer and Afton Stout of Berkley, Calif.; also 52 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.
