Services Mon. for Joe M. Wickam
Funeral services were held for Joseph M. Wickam Monday afternoon at 2 p.m., from the Methodist church with Rev. Clifford Polson, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Wheatland Cemetery, with his grandsons acting as pallbearers.
Mr. Wickam was born in Kansas on October 1, 1880, and was 82 at the time of his death. The son of Morgan and Ellen Parkinson Wickam, he came to Platte county in 1903. He was interested in law enforcement and was Platte county sheriff from 1933 ot 1939 and served several years on the Wheatland police force, besides having ranching interests before retiring.
He was an active member of the AF & AM Lodge No. 16 and was a past master.
He was visiting at the home of his daughter in Deer Lodge, Mont. at the time of his death Wednesday, October 31, 1962.
Preceeding him in death were his first wife, Flora in 1936 and his second wife in 1956, a daughter, Rheda Short, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving to mourn his passing are three sons, Leo of Gillette; Fred of Cheyenne and Wayne of Denver; two daughters, Mrs. Ross Shepherd, Deer Lodge, Mont., and Mrs Andy Wick, Garden Grove, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. D.W. Blackwell of Ottawa, Kans.
