I put the birth date as Oct. 28th, 1869 and the death date as March 15, 1871 in spite of what is engraved on the headstone because of a journal entry by Allen Joseph Stout, his father. 'I write a few word today as I have another son presented to me who we call Don Carlos Fisk, he being my 10 son....It is now the 28th of Oct. 1869....The year 1871 ushered in with severe sickness, measels and colds, which prove fatal to many. My son Don Carlos died on the 15th of Mar. 1871, and myself and family were all sick, 10 of them, of measels;....' This journal entry was written contemporaneously.
