Pendleton - Millard (Slim) Gabbard, 64, 113 S. Broadway, died Saturday at Long Hospital in Indinaapolis following an extended illness.

Born in Madison County, Kentucky, he lived in the Pendleton area most of his life. He retired from Delco-Remy Division in 1972 and was a member of the Pendelteon American Legion Post 117, Veterans of Foreign Wars, UAW Local 662 and the Fishing Club of America.

Surviving are his wife, Maggie; a daughter, Mrs. Jackie Polston of Greenfield; two sons, Thomas W. Gabbard of Anderson and Charles V. Gabbard of Middletown; four stepchildren, David Hammond of Anderson, Mark Hammond of Pendleton, Mrs. Gene Moore of Pendleton and Janie Whitemore of Anderson; four sisters, Mrs. Chester Pitts of Anderson, Mrs. Emma Zarres of Indianapolis, Mrs. REbecca Wright of Tyner, Kentucky, and Mrs. Carline Brandt of New Castle; two brothers, Claude Gabbard of Harrison, Ohio and Owen Gabbard of Knightstown, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at the Bright Funeral Home in Pendleton with burial in the Grove Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 pm Monday at the funeral home.
