On 10/19/1895,George married Miss Anzonetta Delph from Manchester, Clay County, Kentucky. The couple had ten children, five of which would not live to adulthood. The family lived in a four room house (which George built) for their entire married life. They never had indoor plumbing, running water, or electricity. George was a farmer, who dug graves to make ends meet. For a time he worked on the railroad.

George had a quick temper, but was also quick to smile. He was a self taught harmonica player and could play most any tune by heart. He was a hard worker who raised a family in very difficult times. The five children who died early, died through no fault of his or Anzonetta's, but due to unusual circumstances in an uncivilized time. He was a well respected man, known to be honest.

George died from a massive heart attack in 1955. The doctor said he was dead before he hit the floor. He is buried in Perkins Cemetery, Woodbine, Kentucky. Anzonetta, who lived with her daughter, Margaret, in later years, is buried in Bethel Cemetery, Logansport, Cass County, Indiana.
