Mrs. Bert Braskamp Funeral Will Be At Sheldon Today
Relatives here were notified Tuesday of the death of Mrs. A. M. (Bert) Braskamp of Madison, So. Dak. who died Monday evening, Dec. 9th after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational church in Sheldon where the Braskamps were residents for many years.
Mrs. Braskamp, nee Maggie Hoeven, was born near Newkirk, Sioux County Sept. 20, 1878, to the pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. E. Hoeven, and was 85 years old at the time of her death. She was one of 14 children born to the pioneer couple, of whom four still survive.
After her marriage to Mr. Braskamp she lived at Alton, where her husband was in the hardware business, a son of the late pioneer hardware man, A.M. Braskamp. Later they moved to Sheldon where her husband conducted a hardware store.
22 years ago they moved to Madison, S.D. to be near their only son, Dr. Howard Braskamp. There the couple observed their golden wedding a few years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Bert, and son Howard; her twin sister, Mrs. Ella Eidema of Mason City, Iowa; 2 brothers, Isaac Hoeven of Sioux Center; Abe Hoeven of Long Beach, Cal.; a sister, Mrs. C. P. De Jong of Hospers.
Mrs. Braskmnp is an aunt of Congressman Chas. B. Hoeven of Alton and also of Mrs. Harry Vander Pol of Newkirk, who kindly furnished The Democrat by telephone with the foregoing Information.
