Maude Tucker Barker graduated from Lewis and Clark High School, Spokane, Washington, June 9, 1911, one in a class of 151. She was one of 19 graduates in the Manual Arts Course. There were 51 graduates in the Classical Course; 34 in the Scientific Course; and 14 in the Commercial Course. She moved to Chicago, Illinois, with her mother circa 1916-1917, where she met and married Otto Martin Larson February 5, 1918. She and Otto moved to Detroit in the spring of 1919, with friends Edward (Ted) and Ruth Young, where they shared an apartment. With a brief exception of going to work to support their household in 1925 following amputation of Otto's left leg above the knee (the knee was cancerous), Maude was a housewife who did not work outside the home and was focused on family life.

The family is listed in Barker Genealogy, by Elizabeth Frye Barker (New York: Frye Publishing Co., 1927), page 374. The entry states: "John married Milly [sic] Childs," and Maud [sic] and Nathaniel as issues, with no dates or places of birth identified.
