Henry H. Arent was born December 7, 1853. He came to America in the early seventies, and about forty years ago settled on a homestead east of Minden, where he lived until about ten years ago, when he moved to Minden, where he has since resided. He was married to Ida Shulz in young manhood. To this union was born seven children, five of whom, four sons and one daughter, still survive him, and all reside in Kearney county. His wife died November 3, 1889.
He was married to his present wife who survives him, August 14, 1904.
During a residence of more than forty years in Kearney county he saw the wild prairie transformed into an abode of countless homes and waste places bring forth their fruit and yield an abundant harvest. As he had a part in the county's development, so his years of toil brought fruitage to his labors.
He was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran church in childhood.
He departed this life Monday, February 18, 15 11 p.m. being 64 years, 2 months and 11 days of age.
He leaves to mourn four sons, Charlie H., John H., Fred and Willie and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Madsen, two brothers and twenty-one grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.W. Pressly from the M.E. church Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
