She was born July 15, 1914 in Maiden Rock Township, the daughter of William Henry and Anna Augusta (Brown) Chicquette. She was baptized, confirmed and joined the Hartland Methodist Church in 1926. Her membership was transferred to the University First United Methodist Church in Southeast Minneapolis. She was a member of the Eastern Star University Chapter 269 in St. Paul. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1936 and from Business College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1941. She was employed by the University of Minnesota Agricultural Engineering Department as a secretary for 35 years, retiring in 1977. She moved to Bay City in 1978, residing there until 1993 when she moved to Red Wing. She was a member of the Bay City United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed flowers, especially lilacs, cats, dogs, baking, singing, and reading. Billie also enjoyed travel, knitting, crocheting, plastic canvas work and Russian embroidery.
Survivors include her brother, Lionel Chicquette of Champagne, Illinois; one nephew: Sherman Hall of Columbus, Georgia; two nieces: Shirley Mewhorter of Red Wing and Geraldine Bush of Panama City, Florida; grand nieces and grand nephews, cousins, family, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Winston Chicquette and one sister, Eleanor Hall.
Funeral will be 10 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Gene Hasselquist officiating. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hartland Cemetery. Arrangements by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
