OBITUARY

CORA ANN ADAMS

Cora Ann Adams, oldest daughter of Harvey M. and America I. Adams was born at the Adams homestead about three one-half miles northeast of Rosedale, Ind., October 21, 1864, and spent most all of her life near her birthplace. Departed this life Oct. 23, 1913, in Vigo county, Indiana, where she lived one and one-half years prior to her death, aged 49 years and 2 days.
Of the eleven in her father's family, all have gone except three brothers, and of the ten in her mother's family only two brothers and one sister remain. Three brothers, one a twin brother, father and mother have passed on beforehand, two sisters, Mrs. John Belt and Mrs. J. R. Nevins are all that are left of her family.
She was married to John W. Naff, July 20, 1893. To this union were born three children, Annie, who died in infancy and Charlie at the age of two years passed on before, waiting for their dear mother to come, and she leaves a bright little girl, Ethel, 7 years of age, too young to realize the loss of her best earthly friend.
She took sick Sunday morning, Aug. 17, and for nine and one-half weeks she bore her sickness very patiently though at times her suffering was very severe, and her friends realized from the first that her recovery was doubtful. She was of a retiring and joyous dispositon, her dominant characteristic was her self-forgetfulness, always ready to sacrifice her own comforts and pleasures for those about her, counting personal pleasure subordinate to what she deemed her duty to her family and friends. Her many kind acts, her deep and earnest sympathy for the suffering, her self-denial and unselfishness in the interest of others, remain as souvenirs to her many friends to remind them of the beautiful life that has ended here, but will awaken in a more beautiful world. Those who knew her best loved her best. She did not go without hope. She knew on whom she believed and this trust did not fail her in the end. She has entered into the rest that remains for the people of God.
Her sister, husband and friends wish to thank the friends and neighbors for their kindness and attention during this time of affliction.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Silas Adams on Saturday, Oct. 25, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Adams cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
