"SHELTON -- Roy E. Tanner, a resident of the Shelton area for 60 years, died Friday in a Shelton hospital at the age of 78 years. He was born in Naselle on July 21, 1891. Mr. Tanner retired as a Simpson Company employee in 1957. He was a World War I veteran and belonged to the World War I veterans organization in Shelton.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, at home, and a brother, Kelsey of Shelton.
The funeral service will take place in the Batstone chapel this Monday afternoon starting at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Mildred Shultz officiating. Burial will take place in Shelton Memorial Park." The Olympian (Olympia, Washington), April 19, 1970
