MAVER CASSIDAY RITES HELD
Maver M. Cassiday, 77, of Skeels, died Friday, June 2, following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Cassiday was born in Paulding County, Ohio, May 22, 1889, and came with his parents to Gladwin County as a boy. He began working in the lumber woods when he was 12 years old. In later years he was employed by the Gladwin County Road Commission until his retirement. On Nov. 9, 1909, he and the former Miss Nellie Gilmore were married in Cadillac. Mr. Cassiday was a member of the Skeels Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Nellie; two sons, Clinton of Kindelville, Ind., and Virgil of Midland; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Altoft of Hastings, and Mrs. Edith Greaves of Skeels; 20 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Miner Chapel with the Rev. Carl Briggs officiating. Burial was in the Skeels Cemetery.
