John William Johnson was born in Schuyler County, Missouri to John Martin and Lucinda M. (Parton) Johnson. In the 1860 U.S. Census the family was still residing in Schuyler County and at the time of the 1870 Census they were living in Fabius Township , Davis County,Iowa. John W. and his parents were in Ravanna Township, Mercer County at the time of the 1880 Census, and this is where he married Czrina Michael. The couple had 3 children: Fred Ray Johnson (16 Feb 1888-15 May 1968); Charles Martin Johnson (4 Jul 1893-Jan 1972); and Arthur John Johnson (9 Jan 1896-Jun 1974). John died in Ravanna Township 26 Mar 1939 - he, wife Czrina, and their sons are buried in the Ravanna Cemetery.
