"Fred" Bell, 60, mechanic, who had lived in Detroit for many years, died Sunday at 1:30 P>.M. at the Grant Hospital, where he had just been carried. He was born in Upshur County, child of the late Mr. & Mrs. J. G. Bell, but lived practically all of his life in Deport, Fulbright, Detroit section. Services were conducted by Rev. Joe Everheart, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Deport at the Detroit Cemetery at 4:00 o'clock Monday afternoon. Burial was made by the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Irene Miesch; a son, Roy Bell, a daughter, Mrs. A. B. Castleman and 6 grandchildren all of Detroit; 3 sisters and a brother, Mrs. Tom Jeffus and Mrs. J. A. Jackson of Deport and Mrs. S. Bruton, Cleburne, and Clyde Bell, Washington, D. C., Obit: Deport Times 15 Dec. 1949, Thursday, from microfilm in the Clarksville Library: George Fred Bell of Detroit, 60 year old mechanic, died in Grant Hospital at Deport, Sunday about 1:30 p.m. Ailing some time, he suffered a sudden attack of illness earlier in the day and was taken to the hospital about noon. The funeral in Detroit Cemetery was at 4l'clock Monday afternoon with interment there. The Rev. Joe Everheart, Presbyterian pastor at Deport, had charge of services. Mr. Bell leaves his wife, the former Miss Irene Miesch; a son and a daughter, Roy Bell and Mrs. A. B. Castleman, both of Detroit; three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Tom Jeffus and Mrs. Albert Jackson, Deport; Mrs. Dick Bruton, Cleburne, and Clyde Bell, Washington, D. C., besides six grandchildren. He was born in Upshur County, August 10, 1889, child of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Bell. He had lived in Detroit a number of years. Mr. Bell was a World War I veteran, and was a member of the Detroit American Legion Post. He lived at Deport and Fulbright for a number of years before moving to Detroit. Pallbearers were Dorsett Tony, Hassel Roberts, Masey Melton, W. G. Lambert, R. E. Cassell and Harold Holloway of the Detroit American Lesion Post.
