Ronald died as a result of gunshot wounds suffered on the battlefield during the Vietnam War. Ronald served with C Troop, 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division.

US Army Staff Sergeant (E6) Ronald Allen died of wounds suffered during a battle near Dong Nai, Bien Hoa Province, Vietnam on December 21, 1967. He had only been in Vietnam since November 26, 1967, less than a month before his death.
Staff Sergeant Ronald Allen was an Armor Reconnaissance Intelligence Specialist (11D10) . The cause of death was wounds from small arms fire. He had served eight years in the Army, having enlisted in 1959 at the age of 17.He received the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Purple Heart.
