Mary Nell Allen, 73, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven’s gates on Monday, February 10, 2020. She was born October 17, 1946 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Leon Holder and Ruby Lee (Haws) Holder. She attended public schools and graduated in 1965 from Muskogee Central High School where she was member of the choir as a mezzo-soprano.
Mary married the love of her life, Ronald “Bud” S. Allen III, on August 14, 1965 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Muskogee. She became a widow in 1968 when Bud was killed in action serving his country during the Vietnam War.
Mary worked as a receptionist for Acme Manufacturing for 37 years when she retired in 2009.
She will always be remembered for her love of singing; her favorite songs being “He” and “How Great Thou Art”. Mary was invited to sing at numerous area churches whether it was for weddings, funerals, or other special occasions. Mary was a member of Boston Avenue Baptist Church for many years. She also loved to bowl and played on a ladies bowling team for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and grandson, Phillip Allen.
Mary is survived by her sons, Miles Allen of Lexington, OK, Casey Shawn Allen and wife Kelly Couch of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Amber Renee Quillman and wife Kelly, Ronald S. Allen IV and wife Keri, all of Muskogee, Brady S Allen of Seminole, OK; great-grandchildren, Kensley, Kelsey, and Keegan Allen, and Kaia Quillman; siblings, Edward Holder and wife Margie, Celia Waldron and husband James, Karen Todd and husband Johnny, all of Muskogee.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Mary’s life will be at 1:30PM, Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Timothy Baptist Church with Pastor Donnie Echols and Rev. Shawn Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
