MACON - Thomas J. Adams, Jr., 98, of Macon, IL passed away on Saturday (Aug. 15, 2009) in Mesa, AZ. Masonic services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 22, 2009) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon, IL with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be in South Macon Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Odyssey Hospice of Arizona. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Mr. Adams was born on December 1, 1910 in the country west of Moweaqua, IL, the son of Thomas J. and Bessie Tanner Adams, Sr. He retired in 1972 from Mueller Company after thirty-six years of service. He served three years in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Sergeant during WWII with the 476th Bombardier Squadron. He was a sixty-two year member of the South Macon Masonic Lodge #467, a fifty-six year member of the American Legion Lancaster Dunn Post #72 and a member of Macon United Methodist Church. Mr. Adams married Florence M. Wantland on March 23, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. Surviving are his wife: Florence M. Adams of Mesa, AZ; son: Roger Lee (Joyce Stoner) Adams of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren: Angela R. (Bill) Huckaby of Mesa, AZ and Michael (Alice) Adams of Corryton, TN; great grandchildren: Brandon Burley, Cameron Lipetz, Elyssa Lipetz, Amanda Huckaby, Brianna Huckaby and Ethan Adams; brother-in-law: Clifford (Hildred) Wantland of Macon, IL; sisters-in-law: Anna Wantland of Royal, IL and Vida Adams of Macon, IL; several nieces and nephews also survive.
