Edward John McClellan, son of John and Mary McClellan, was born in Indiana, March 1, 1869. He came to Kansas in 1887 and settled near Onaga. He passed away April 15, 1950 at his home in Onaga at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 14 days.
He was united in marriage to Mary H. May on August 15, 1889 at Holton, Kansas. To this union were born six children, Mary, his wife, and one daughter, Emma Neely, preceding him in death.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his children: Alice Detimore of Mayetta, Ernest McClellan of Soldier, Nellie Zabel and Delia Reves of Westmoreland and Viola Fischer of North Topeka; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. McClellan spent his life near Onaga, Kansas, as a farmer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. His thoughtfulness will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Onaga, April 17th, at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. Caryl conducting the services. Burial was in the Havensville cemetery.
