Brother of: Jan Harm Mepjans and Geesje Rutgers
I am questioning John as a brother of the siblings listed. In 1870 Geesje is living with his family as a Mepjans. In 1880 he's deceased but his widow is living as a daughter of Geesje, with their daughter listed as a granddaughter of Geesje. This wouldn't be enough for me to question it *but* the photo of John's wife that is posted on her memorial lists that it came from the Ketelaar family. This family was descended from Geesje. It would be more likely they'd have a photo of their (distant) ancestor but not that ancestor's spouse.
