CHASE
Stella Horner Chase, daughter of Elias Dow and Louisa McKinley Horner, was born near Russell, Iowa on April 15, 1899 and passed away March 16, 1984 at the Chariton Manor at the age of 84 years, ll months and one day.
She was united in marriage to Robert Friend Chase on February 1, 1924. This past February Robert and Stella celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. To this union two sons were born, Arthur of Chariton and Kenneth of Milwaukie, Oregon.
Stella was preceded in death by her father, mother, infant grandaughter, Darlene Marie Chase; three sisters, Bessie LaFavre, Alta Davis and one who died in infancy; four brothers, Clarence, Leonard, Alva and Harold.
Stella found Jesus Christ as her personal saviour at an early age and was a member of the Russell Baptist Church. For a number of years she was Cradle Roll Superintendent.
Survivors include her husband, Robert, two sons, Arthur and Kenneth, two daughters-in-law, Mary and Betty, seven grandchildren, Robert Chase and wife Barbara of Boone; Larry Chase and wife Linda of Chariton; Eileen Hall and husband John of Boone; Trudy Glindmeyer and husband Rick Jr of Corvallis, Ore.; Patricia West of Oregon City, Ore; Allen Chase and wife Kay Lynn of Lake Oswego, Ore.; Linda Chase of Milwaukee, Ore.; and nine great-grandchildren, Teresa and Thad Chase, Michelle and Brenda Chase, Terri and Jerri Hall, Stacey and Nicole Bruner and Michael Glindmeyer; also several nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors.
Stella's family and friends were a very important part of her life. She and Robert spent much of their time visiting and calling on friends in the hospitals and manor. She was an excellent gardner and took great pride in her flowers. When friends called on her she would proudly take them for a tour of her flowers.
Stella was a dear Christian wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed by those of us left behind but we are comforted because she is now at home with her Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Funeral services were Monday, March 19, 1984 at Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Don Michaelson officiating.
Interment was at the Russell Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Russell Baptist Church or the Activity Fund at the Chariton Manor.
