Vernon F. "Nick" Adams of Lititz, formerly of Ephrata

Vernon F. "Nick" Adams, 81, of Lititz, formerly of Ephrata, peacefully passed away at Manor Care, Sinking Spring, Pa. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. He was the husband of Alice (Callihan) Adams for 23 wonderful years. Born in Lititz, Vernon was a son of the late Frank and Arlene (Harlinger) Adams. A graduate of Ephrata High School class of 1949, he then served in the Army in Germany and France for five and half years. Upon graduation from Franklin and Marshall College in 1959, he was employed as an accountant for Lukens Steel Company, Coatesville for thirty-three and a half years. After retiring in April 1993, Vernon enjoyed traveling and playing golf. He was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren and American Legion Cloister Post 429, Ephrata. Surviving in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Michele Adams of Downingtown; son in law, Richard Maziarz of Pottstown; two stepdaughters, Becky H., wife of Don Becker and Christine, wife of Jay Bomberger, both of Lititz; two grandchildren; five step grandchildren; one great grandson; and sister, Wilma, wife of Kenneth Kneisley of Lancaster. Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucette (Coquel) Adams in 1987; daughter Jacqueline in 1973; daughter Monique Maziarz in 2010; two brothers, Gale and Glenn; and two sisters, Shirley Smith and Eileen Burnette. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at the Ephrata Church of the Brethren, 201 Crescent Avenue, Ephrata, with Pastors Marvin E. Reich and Rob Eshelman officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service. Private interment will take place in the Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vernon's memory may be made to Ephrata Church of the Brethren, Deacon Fund, 201 Crescent Avenue, Ephrata, PA 17522.
