Nora E. Maxted, 96, of Sheridan, WY died Monday, August 3, 2009, in her Sheridan home.

Nora was born June 8, 1913, in Sheridan to Emanuel & Elizabeth (Graff) Achenbach.

Nora grew up in the Parkman, WY area and graduated from Sheridan High School. She married Wayne Maxted on October 21, 1936. They ranched for several years. Later she was the caregiver for her husband and her son. She played piano in the family band at many dances. Nora enjoyed gardening and sewing. She loved her family and having them near her.

Nora was preceded in death by her husband, son Jack, grandson Cory and her brothers and sisters.

Nora is survived by her son Pete Maxted of Sheridan; daughter Barbara Townsend of California; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Viewing will be 9:00am until 4:00pm on Monday (Aug. 10th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00am on Tuesday from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
