Lloyd S. Boring, 96, New Florence RD 1, died February 19, 2003, at UPMC Lee Regional.
Born Dec. 29, 1906, in West Wheatfield Township, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Elizabeth D. (McAdams) Boring.

He was a member of Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, the Laurel Valley Senior Center in New Florence, where he played drums in the chorus; and the Clyde Saddle and Trail Club.

He was a former member New Florence Public School Board, and a life member of Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company. He was retired from the Pennsylvania and Penn Central railroads.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Emma Jane (Penrose); daughter, Cora Dell Hess; son, Oscar Mervin; grandsons, George and Danny; great-granddaughter, Tara Silk; sisters, Anna Rebecca Boring and Olive Jeanette Penrose; and brothers, Vall E., James T., and Orville A.

Survived by these children: Lewis S., married to Eleanor Ritenour, New Florence RD 1; Alberta E., wife of Raymond Hepner, New Market, Md.; Leroy S., married to Sara Jane Muir, New Florence RD 1; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and sister, Della G. Barbus, New Florence RD 2.

A funeral service was held Saturday at Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence with the Rev. Bonnie F. King officiating.

Interment was in Germany Lutheran Cemetery.
