John Edgar Higgerson was born in Illinois on December 12, 1890 . When John's father and mother, Henry Gordon and Ella Williams, separated, he went with his mother to the west coast. When she married again he took the last name of Hall. They were in San Francisco in 1906 when the great earthquake hit, and they became separated in the confusion. His mother went to Los Angeles and put an ad in the personal section of the newspaper. John saw it and was reunited with his mother. He later served in the military (Army?) in Germany. He married and lived in San Francisco.
