Ben Gerhardt Jr., 76, was born in Puerta de Luna, NM and has resided in Albuquerque for the past 55 years, passed away on June 14, 2009 with his family at his side.

Mr. Gerhardt is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Pauline; his children, Michael Gerhardt Sr. and wife, Carolyn, Louie Gerhardt and wife, Melinda, Annabelle Gerhardt, Kathy Barela and husband, Patrick, Rita Gerhardt-Muriel, Marlene Killinger and husband, Brian, and Bobby Gerhardt; his brother, Henry Gerhardt; his sisters, Julia Gerhardt, Patsy Gensler and Helen Shutco; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; special friend, Loretta Cordova; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Gerhardt was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Juanita Gerhardt.

Mr. Gerhardt was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of local union 495, Iron Workers and Welders.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Toby and Catherine Telles. Final visitation will be Wednesday at the Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.

Committal service, with military honors, will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Michael Gerhardt Sr., Louie Gerhardt, Bobby Gerhardt, Michael Gerhardt, Brian Killinger, Patrick Barela and Jacob Barela. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
