Kenny A. Feauto Sr. of Fort Dodge, formerly of Akron, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Sunny Dominic officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial was in St. Olaf Cemetery in Bode with full military rites presented by the V.F.W. Post 5240 and the American Legion Post 119 both of Humboldt.

Kenneth A. Feauto was born on July, 11, 1936, in Akron. He attended country schools there. Ken served with the Army National Guard until receiving his honorable discharge in 1956. On Aug. 11, 1956 he married Elaine Mitsven of Bode. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge where Kenny drove truck for Stomac and Crouse Cartage Company for many years. Ken was a very well known musician and during his music career was noted for his talent on the steel guitar and fiddle. He was best known for his rendition of the Orange Blossom Special, which brought crowds to their feet until he retired from music in 1993. Ken was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 613; and he was a Eucharistic Minister and active member of Sacred Heart Church. He had a special affection for his grandchildren and especially loved the new babies. He'll be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include-his wife Elaine; sons, Paul (Mary Ann), Ken Feauto Jr. and a daughter Sandy (David) Schmieder all of Fort Dodge; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother, Orville Feauto of Akron; a sister, Mary Lou Hoeck of Hawarden; nieces and nephews; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Ambrose and Clara (Buryanek) Feauto, brothers, Vince, Lawrence, Barney, Ron, and Raymond; sisters, Florence and Dorothy.
