J.R. Arthur, 66, of 5 S. Lamp, Phillips, a longtime area resident, died at 11 a.m. Saturday in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Presnall, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Alexander Funeral Directors.

A native of Erath County, Tx., Mr. Arthur was born Sept. 11, 1914. He was married to Malnor Estes Sept. 1, 1935, in Ralls, Tex. He had been a resident of Phillips for 39 years, coming here from Wichita Falls.

He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge.

He was an operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1977.

Survivors are his wife; one son, Robin of Borger; one daughters, Mrs. Sue Lusk of Borger; four brothers, Ben S. of Gruver, Phillip E. of Borger, Uel and A.R., both of Ralls; four sisters, Mrs. Morene Phipps of Stephenville, Mrs. Oleta Moore of Ralls, Mrs. Zora Kretzer and Mrs. Juanita Laskey, both of San Antonio; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be under the auspices of the Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge.

Pallbearers will be Bob Brown, M.R. Fagen, Fred Anderson, Bob Black, Aaron Colier, and Cecil Renfroe.
